I’m planning to take the Queen in to the shop this Thursday to get the rear shocks replaced, the control arms looked at, and the upstream catalyst o2 sensors swapped. And after that I’m going to Brown Bear to give her a much-deserved cleaning.

This whole story is so bizarre...

In any event, I did two shocks and a strut on my car on Saturday, but an immovable nut (which I did a good job rounding off) prevented me from getting the last strut replaced. Ended up letting my local indie mechanic deal with freeing the nut and replacing it, and got it back today. Will probably wait until the next nice weekend day to finish up, they’ve told me they didn’t snug down the new nut too hard so hopefully it won’t be a pain to free up.

At least the work is progressing! I have a set of U-joints for the drive shaft, but I plan to have those installed after I’ve gotten a rebuilt transmission.

But last night discovered that my sump pump decided to stop working.

There was some sand and crap at the bottom, but no idea why the float didn’t set it to go off.

I do have well water, But the pump is for the basement sink being  lower than the output line.

Both truck and car need oil changes soon (30% on monitors) but I don’t even remember how to drive anymore (last drive was 3/22 when I filled it up). Have oil and filters but they just sit so may pull their neg batt cables. Won’t be going anywhere for another month minimum. Truck could use a wash/wax too. Looks amazing clean. My old truck needs some things and/or to be sold but just lives a lonely life on the driveway for now. So really I haven’t done anything I guess lol.

I’m just really confused why it wasn’t pumping. I tested it @10 times outside and again once set up. I’m wondering if I need a check valve.

I’m still trying to find a way to work on my car at all... The shop where I was working on it is closed because corona, the shop I was going to move it to instead is no longer an option because someone has flu-like symptoms, and I don’t know what I’m going to do now. Can’t work on it at home because I don’t have the tools, plus the HOA says I’m not allowed to do that anyway. I miss my Thunderbird...

Well, specifically, it says I can’t work on my own car outdoors. Which is still ridiculous, and I can’t fit my car in the garage since it’s too long and there’s a ton of crap in there anyway. Honestly, HOAs are pretty much just a bunch of busybodies wandering around and looking for stuff to nitpick and complain about.

Yeah, I think if you want to go play soldier of fortune, you accept this risk. It would be nice if the US could keep them from being executed, but even then I don’t think we should be giving up much to make it happen. The only exception would be if they were working for the CIA, but even as incompetent as the CIA’s operations history is, this still seems stunningly inept for an operation with government backing.
